In 1864, the Victoria Turf Club and the Victoria Jockey Club came together to create a thriving thoroughbred racing club in Victoria, one to rival the best of the best globally.

From our proud and storied past, the Victoria Racing Club has grown to become an internationally renowned club, offering the very best in racing, facilities, and events – and its signature event, the Melbourne Cup Carnival is duly regarded as Australia’s most thrilling and iconic racing event. The traditions and experiences we all know and love at the VRC – coupled with world-class racing, exceptional racing facilities, and exclusive events – are what membership is all about and core to our overall strategy. It is our commitment that we maintain membership standards and continue to provide the world-class experiences that members expect across the entire racing season – today and into the future.

To deliver on this commitment for every member as we continue to see growth in overall membership numbers, we have introduced a Full Membership Cap of 30,000 members. 

The Full Membership Cap is currently over 95% capacity and on track to be reached during the 2024/25 racing season.

Please note as the membership cap applies to Full Members, all renewed Life, Pre-79, Full and Young Members are considered part of this 30,000 cap. Once this cap is reached, Restricted Membership will be the future pathway to Full Membership at the VRC and a waiting list based on the date joined will be in place to manage elevation from Restricted Membership to Full Membership.
